Regional accountancy firm Milsted Langdon has promoted Guy Armitage-Norton to partner in recognition of his work and commitment to adding value to the businesses he advises.

Guy, pictured, works across the firm’s Bath and Bristol offices providing pragmatic support on accounting, auditing and financial reporting tailored to the specific needs of his clients.

Meanwhile Milsted Langdon’s Bristol office has appointed experienced accountant Mark Birchenough as a senior general practice manager.

Guy started in the profession in 2008, working for Baker Tilly (now RSM), before joining ‘Big Four’ firm EY four years later as an audit manager.

He has worked at Milsted Langdon, which employs 22 partners and around 230 staff across its five offices, since 2015 as a director.

He now works with a significant number of small and medium-sized businesses and high-growth companies to help them flourish, as well as many large established businesses in sectors such as biomedical sciences, manufacturing, and construction.

Guy said: “I am delighted to be taking on this new role within the firm, having spent years supporting our clients’, and the wider practice’s, success.

“I hope that as a partner I can play a role in guiding the future direction of Milsted Langdon so that we continue to help our clients and our people to thrive.”

Milsted Langdon chair Tim Close added: “Guy has proven himself to be an excellent member of the team and has done outstanding work supporting many of our clients through challenging times.

“I would like to congratulate him on taking this important step in his career and wish him success in his new role.”

Mark, pictured, joins from rival regional accountants Bishop Fleming, where he worked at just over 15 years, most recently as senior audit manager.

Prior to that he was an assistant audit manager at international accountancy group EY.

Milsted Langdon said Mark brought considerable experience and knowledge to the firm, having worked in the audit and accountancy profession and with a wide range of clients from a variety of sectors for more than 30 years.

He specialises in audits and financial reporting for charities and not-for-profit entities, academy trusts and limited companies, but also assists with management accounting, cashflow forecasting, systems analysis and general business, tax and VAT advice.

Mark said: “I am really excited to be joining the team in Bristol. Milsted Langdon has a fantastic reputation in the region and beyond for delivering excellent services to its clients, so I am looking forward to supporting local businesses and individuals.”

He said he was looking to build lasting relationships with clients and supporting them with proactive advice and solutions to the accounting and tax issues they may face.

Milsted Langdon people partner Rachel Hotham added: “We are glad to be welcoming Mark to our team. He comes to us with considerable experience, including specialist knowledge of the not-for-profit, charity and academy schools’ sector, which will complement our existing expertise in these areas.”
