Bristol’s Hampton by Hilton hotel has appointed Greg Csikos as its new general manager, replacing Imran Ali, who was instrumental in overseeing its opening in 2015 and has been running it since.

Greg, pictured, will oversee the day-to-day operation of the three-star, 186-bedroom city-centre venue. He joins from the DoubleTree by Hilton, Bristol City Centre, where he has spent the past two-and-a-half years as director of operations.

The Hampton by Hilton, which is managed by Focus Hotels Management, was converted from the former 1960s York House office block on the corner of Bond Street and York Street to become a much-needed addition to Bristol’s burgeoning hotel sector.

Originally from Budapest, Greg moved to the UK in 2006 having worked at the Marriott in the Hungarian capital. He spent a year at the 650-bedroom Renaissance Hotel at Heathrow, followed by a two-year stint at Marriott’s Meon Valley Hotel and Country Club near Southampton.

Having spent a short holiday in Bristol, he liked the ambience of the city so much he decided to head West to work at the Bristol City Centre Marriott, where he was food and beverage manager, before joining the DoubleTree by Hilton.

He now hopes his European-wide experience will add to the growing reputation of the Hampton by Hilton and help attract tourists and business travellers to it and the city.

Greg said: “I’m delighted to be given this opportunity and to build on what Imran has already achieved. The hotel has enjoyed excellent occupancy levels since opening, which is down to the superb level of service and attention to detail by the team.

“I’ll now be looking to build on what Imran has put in place while consolidating the venue’s position as one of the leading venues in Bristol and supporting the city’s reputation as a major player in terms of business and tourism.”

Hampton, one of the brands of the Hilton Worldwide group, operates more than 2,000 hotels around the world.
