Mobius Works, the Bristol-based integrated services contractor, has hired Mark Shortland as its new commercial director as the firm adapts to coronavirus crisis by offering assistance to the NHS.

Mark, pictured, is highly experienced in commercial awareness with a career spanning 20 years, having previously worked at Regus and, most recently, Backwell-based office fit-out business, McFeggan Brown.

He has joined Mobius Works as it makes its 14-strong fleet of commercial vehicles and their drivers available to help the NHS as well as responding to the need for personal protective equipment (PPE) for NHS staff by donating unused safety goggles to the Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health partnership.

Mark’s role at Warmley-based Mobius will involve overseeing day-to-day operations and sales, liaising with new customers and negotiating with suppliers.

He will identify and secure new business opportunities, stimulating further growth to the business which ended 2019 last year with a record turnover of £4.8m – more than doubling its 2018 figure. It is targeting a £10m turnover this year.

He will draw on his commercial expertise gained in B2B and B2C businesses throughout the leisure and property sectors.

Mobius Works, which was founded in 2017 by Lee Bignell, is behind the design and fit-out of many of the shipping containers at Bristol’s innovative Cargo development at Wapping Wharf as well as the Yeo Valley Cafe in London’s Kensington and pubs, bars and hotels across the country, including those owned by Bristol-based chain Loungers.

Mark said: “Mobius is a progressive and agile business with a great ethos and work ethic.

“The growth to date has been impressive and the aspirations for future growth are realistic. Having the opportunity to be a part of such a dynamic business and influencing the path to success excites me.

“The team within Mobius are passionate about service delivery, which provides a fantastic platform. The emphasis of the business on currently supporting the NHS through its fleet and drivers, and ongoing support of local charities such as [Bristol boxing gym] Empire Fighting Chance, shows its true colours.”

Founder and MD Lee Bignell added: “The value Mark will bring to Mobius Works is clear. He has the ability and experience to accelerate our growth and drive the business forward, while understanding our culture and emphasis on our brilliant team.”
