National law firm Ashfords has appointed Nick Wrigley as its new chief financial officer, based in its Bristol office.

Nick, pictured, joins from the Bristol office of international law firm DAC Beachcroft, where he spent nearly seven years as director of finance.

He has a wealth of experience in finance, having trained with ‘big four’ accountancy firm KPMG, practising in the UK and overseas.

More recently he has worked in senior legal finance roles, holding board positions in both companies and partnerships.

He joins Ashfords, which employs more than 500 people and also has offices in London and Plymouth, as it is part way through a five-year strategy focused on growing its core legal advisory work for commercial, real estate and private clients.

In its most recent financial year the firm broke the £50m barrier for the first time, growing by annual revenues by 3% to reach £50.2m.

Like-for-like revenues were up by 7% following the divestment of the firm’s equity release business in June last year, which triggered a 7% firm-wide bonus.

Ashfords CEO Louise Workman said Nick would be a great asset to the firm as it continued to focus its efforts to provide outstanding legal services for clients.

“We are in a strong position financially following several years of consistent revenue and profit growth; Nick will be integral to maintaining that growth across the business as we look to the future,” she added.

Nick said he was delighted to be joining Ashfords having seen the firm’s continued success underpinned by its strong financial position.

“I’m impressed by the open and collaborative culture at Ashfords and very much looking forward to working with Louise and the rest of the senior leadership team,” he added.

Nick is the latest in a string of recent senior lateral hires at the firm, including banking & finance partner Melissa George, commercial disputes partner Tom Llewellyn and trusts & estates partner Mike Westbrook.

The firm has also made four promotions to its partnership this year and doubled the number of lawyer promotions.
