The Prince’s Trust South West Leadership Group (SWLG), which brings business leaders together to support the next generation of aspiring entrepreneurs, has appointed Mike Beesley as its new chair.

Mike, pictured, CEO of Bristol-based recruitment firm Resource Solutions Group (RSG), takes over from Bristol app development company Mubaloo’s chief executive Mark Mason.

The chair’s role is to work closely with The Prince’s Trust team to raise awareness of the charity’s Enterprise Programme and SWLG’s aims.

The chair is also responsible for helping grow membership, seek out events and opportunities and generate interest in the group’s activities.

SWLG members invest in young people and inspire them to realise their business dreams.

Prince’s Trust South West private sector fundraising manager Sally Mabbutt said: “We are delighted to welcome Mike into this role as he has been an active and energetic supporter of The Prince’s Trust.

“He is passionate about helping young people and getting them into meaningful employment so that they can fulfill their ambitions.

“We are looking forward to working with him and know he will bring a great deal of expertise and business savvy with him that our aspiring team of entrepreneurs will thrive on.”

All funds raised through the SWLG go towards The Prince’s Trust’s Enterprise Programme – a tailored programme that helps unemployed young people set up in business.

The group also offers a chance to become a business mentor, working directly with the young people that take part in the programme and sharing ideas to help develop positive outcomes.

Mike, who also sits on the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) skills council, said: “The overall aim of SWLG is to practically provide support for those young people who are ambitious and want to do well but who, for one reason or another, need a bit of financial help and business advice.

“By doing this, I believe we will not only help these individuals and the people around them but invest in the future of our region, its continued innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and, in turn, economic welfare.”

Mike joined RSG as a trainee recruitment consultant in 1979 when he was 21 years old. Today RSG is a £230m turnover company employing more than 220 staff –around 180 of them in Bristol.
