Bristol-based internal communications specialist Synergy Creative has added another new recruit to its expanding team with the appointment of Olly Whitman.

Olly, pictured, who joins as creative director, is tasked with leading Synergy’s creative studio, overseeing its creative output across its existing blue-chip client base, which includes brands such as Argos, Lidl, Vodafone, ODEON Cinemas Group and Simplyhealth.

He has more than 15 years’ experience working across a diverse range of clients and agencies, joining Synergy from Bristol-based brand, strategic services and web design specialists Six, where he was design director and creative lead on the agency’s branding projects and, prior to that, as visual thinking strategist at Home.

Synergy co-founder and previous creative director Giles Hicks has now taken on a new role as executive creative director. He will focus on new business growth and fulfilling the increasing demand for Synergy’s creativity and innovation programmes, aimed at helping in-house HR and communications teams to unlock their creative thinking.

Giles said: “The past 12 months have been great for us at Synergy. We’ve added some fantastic new brands to our books and as our capability grows, we needed a creative director to inspire the team to continued excellent creative work. We’ve found that in Olly and we’re delighted he’s joined the team.”

Olly added: “A week in and I’ve been really impressed by the people, culture and creativity at Synergy. With everything from global rebrands and VR experiences to change programmes and business transformation, the creative opportunity here is massive. I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in.”

Chris Giddings and Rhiannon Stroud have also recently been promoted to Synergy’s management team and sit alongside client services director Emma Holland and co-founders Gemma McGrattan, Nicky Clark and Giles to help guide and shape the future of the agency.
