Barclays has appointed Mark Hatcliffe as area director for Bristol. Mark joined the bank five years ago and was until recently head of Barclays telephony for business banking, based in the North of England.

Mark, pictured, has extensive experience of working in the financial services industry and his appointment will enable him to work closer to home in Bristol, where he has lived for the past 18 years.

Mark will now be responsible for 24 Barclays branches and more than 200 employees located across the Bristol conurbation including Weston-super-Mare, Thornbury and Yate and Barclays city centre branches in Broadmead and Queens Road, Clifton.

Mark said: “Barclays already has a strong track record in the UK retail banking market and I intend to help build upon this locally in Bristol. The economic climate has presented massive challenges over the last few years, but I believe we are well positioned to support our customers in their future success.

“I’m excited about working with a team which is passionate about delivering customer service excellence alongside innovative products such as PINGIT and You-Shaped Banking to help make our customers lives much easier when accessing financial services.”
