A Bristol personal assistant who left school without formal qualifications has been named Pitman Training Young Achiever of the Year.

Becky Lewis, who is dyslexic, was nominated for the award by bosses at her employer, Aztec West-based Rosemont Recruitment, who credit her with playing a key role in helping the business double in size over the past four years.

Despite the fact her first role as trainee recruitment consultant didn’t work out, Rosemont’s directors recognised her creative and organisational skills and her value to the business.  They created a new role of PA for her and Becky is now thriving.

Rosemont managing director Craig Davidge said: “Because of illness, Becky never completed secondary school, leaving with no qualifications. Nine years later, although still living with some health issues, she refuses to let it beat her. She keeps an active mind and has a very can-do attitude.”

Although Becky struggled with some elements of the PA training with Pitman, she was determined to complete it and, with the support of the Rosemont team, practiced until she passed.

Craig added: “As a team we truly value Becky’s methodical organisational skills. It’s all very well winning lots of new sales, but our service has to be delivered seamlessly, at a higher quality to that of our competitors.

“Thanks to Becky’s attention to detail, and creative flair, we have been able to punch above our weight in the industry.”

Pitman Training’s SuperAchievers awards recognise top talent across a number of categories.

Managing director Claire Lister said:They are always highly contested and attract a very high calibre of entrants. So for Becky to win is a real achievement of which she can be very proud.”

Pitman Training offers flexible, self-paced training tailored around work commitments at a number of levels.

Rosemont Recruitment was founded in 2012 and specialises in senior level recruitment in the built environment, residential development, building and civil engineering, consulting engineering and architectural and town planning.
