The dedicated developer sector team at Foot Anstey, the South West and South of England-focused law firm with an office in Bristol, has been bolstered by the appointment of a new partner.

Philip Brown, pictured, brings a wide range of expertise in land development to the team – part of the Foot Anstey’s real estate group – with particular emphasis on commercial and residential development and securing development and project finance.

He acts for national, regional and local developers, landowners, and banks and alternative lenders, as well as investment companies, and advises clients on strategic acquisition and development projects and in relation to secured lending for development projects.

Philip’s appointment by Foot Anstey takes him back to the firm where he spent six months as a trainee in 2008.

Since then he has worked in the Bristol offices of Michelmores and Gregg Latchams and, most recently, Clarke Willmott, where he spent nearly 11-and-a-half years.

He is the third hire made by Foot Anstey’s developer sector team since January – a move the firm said demonstrated its ongoing investment in this core focus area.

Philip joins managing associate and affordable housing expert Georgina Massey and solicitor Alice Cutler in the rapidly growing team.

Foot Anstey partner and head of real estate and developer sector Patrick Wetherall said: “The developer sector is a key focus for us as a firm. We have a 65-plus dedicated team with an enviable track record and investing in top talent is a key part of our growth strategy.

“Philip brings specific industry knowledge which will strengthen our growing team.”

Philip added: “I am thrilled to join Foot Anstey, which has a market-leading presence in the developer sector, together with a clear appetite and strategy for growth, and I am very much looking forward to adding to and growing the firm’s reputation in this important sector.

“My experience in acting for developers, both big and small, and landowners disposing of land for development, taking projects from conception through to completion, has been built over a significant number of years and I am excited to bring that experience to Foot Anstey.”

Foot Anstey, which also has offices in Exeter, London, Plymouth, Southampton, Taunton and Truro, advises clients in sectors spanning development, energy and infrastructure to Islamic finance and retail and consumer.
