Bristol-based wealth management boutique Whitechurch Financial Consultants has completed its third acquisition in as many years, taking over the clients of retiring West of England adviser Derrick Coade.

The move, which adds more than 180 clients to the Whitechurch’s 4,000-strong client bank, is in line with its growth strategy.

The firm has been taking over businesses and client banks of advisers looking to exit the industry for more than 10 years.

Whitechurch strategy & acquisitions director Lauren Seager began working with Derrick Coade last year to help transfer his client bank to Whitechurch Financial Consultants, a division of Whitechurch Securities.

The process began mid-year and made steady progress before completing in the final quarter 2021.

The process itself proved a simple one for Derrick, with Whitechurch working closely with him to ensure the smooth transition of his clients.

Derrick said: “I chose Whitechurch to buy my practice not because of the very positive financial offer but because of the integrity that was evident throughout the business and for the reason that I believed they would provide the most comprehensive level of service to my clients, many of which I can say I consider friends.”

Privately owned Whitechurch was established in 1982 by chairman Kean Seager and has been providing discretionary fund management (DFM) to private individuals, trusts, charities and small businesses since 1990.

Still run by the Seager family, today its assets under management stand close to £400m.

The firm offers flexible options to financial advisers looking for a reliable and professional home for their clients following their retirement or exit of the industry.

It works with a select few advisers over a time frame to ensure the transition for clients is smooth and well managed.

Over the past two years it has been short-listed in the ESG Investor of the Year category of the Business Green Leaders Awards,  awarded five stars in the Adviser Service Awards and won Best Discretionary Wealth Manager with Excellence in Ethical Investments.
