Regional accountancy firm Milsted Langdon has spun out its corporate finance team into a new business in a move it says will allow it to have full operational autonomy.

Harbourside Corporate Finance, which is based in the same Bristol office as Milsted Langdon, will primarily work with small and medium-sized businesses in the UK and their referrers, including accountants, solicitors and other trusted advisers.

Milsted Langdon said Harbourside would work in a “cohesive, collaborative and non-competitive” way with its clients’ other advisers. While fully independent it would remain “integrally connected” to the main group.

Milsted Langdon said there were few boutique corporate finance firms of a similar size and experience profile in the South West or nationally that could offer such an agile and cost-effective alternative service to businesses and their advisers.

Harbourside offers personable and approachable services, Milsted Langdon added, with a team that had decades of experience skilfully navigating clients through the often-uncharted waters of buying, selling or financing their business.

Harbourside Corporate Finance is headed by Susannah Adams, who previously led Milsted Langdon’s corporate finance team.

She said: “It is great to see that so many businesses are exploring mergers, acquisitions and financing for future investment.

“The UK is undergoing a scale-up revolution as entrepreneurs seek out new growth opportunities.

“We are excited to be a part of this through our new boutique firm and can’t wait to support businesses across the UK.”

She said while the company may be new, its core team of specialists had decades of experience helping to broker, finance and negotiate some of the South West’s most interesting deals.

“We are looking forward to working with a wide range of accountants and advisers as they support their clients’ success,” she added.

“Although our team spent years developing skills and connections within Milsted Langdon, as a separate entity we are free to pursue new projects independently and without any conflicts of interest arising.”

Milsted Langdon employs 22 partners and around 230 staff in its Bristol office in Freshford House on Redcliffe Way, and in its offices in Bath, Taunton, Yeovil and London.
