Accountancy firms BDO and PKF (UK) have completed their merger and are now operating as a single business under the BDO brand.

The merged firm will invest in the region as part of its growth strategy and although PKF’s Bristol office will now close all its staff are being retained. The merged operation will be run from BDO’s existing office at Bridgewater House, Finzels Reach, which opened last year.

BDO South West lead partner Graham Randall has been appointed head of the Bristol and Cardiff offices

The firm has 120 staff in the region.

Mr Randall said: “This valuable merger further accelerates the growth of the BDO Bristol operation, which has been impressive since its launch in 2005.

“The majority of our growth has been achieved over the past three years despite the economic downturn. At a time when businesses have needed innovative, high-quality business support, we have added value to their operations, helping them to thrive in tough trading conditions.

“We are delighted that our fast-growing teams will be further strengthened by colleagues from PKF. Altogether, this merger demonstrates our ongoing investment in our regional operations and gives our ambitious team the critical mass to further power our expansion.”

The announcement demonstrates both firms’ on-going commitment to the South West and local businesses across the area. Mr Randall added: “The merger will provide broader and deeper expertise and international reach for many clients on a local basis, but will also allow staff to gain broader experience from working in an enlarged firm. My focus from today is on ensuring a smooth integration of the two firms and continuing delivery of exceptional service to all clients.”
