Major bar chain waste management contract win for MITIE

MITIE, the highly-successful Bristol-based outsourcing group, has landed a £38m waste management and cleaning contract with restaurant and pub operator Mitchells & Butlers.

Under the three-year deal, which builds an existing contract, MITIE will provide recycling and environmental services at 1,600 Mitchells & Butlers restaurants and pubs around the UK, offering what it described as an innovative approach to recycling and increased efficiencies. MITIE will also clean 650 outlets across Mitchells & Butlers’ estate.

MITIE's Facilities Management managing director Martyn Freeman said: “This important contract award demonstrates how MITIE can bring value, innovation and high-quality services to clients through a strategic FM model.”

Mitchells & Butlers head of corporate and retail procurement Jamie Swanston added: “MITIE demonstrated its ability to manage an estate of the scale and diversity of Mitchells &Butlers. Its innovative solution to waste management aligns with our strategy of improving our sustainable waste management performance and reducing our costs.”

Mitchells & Butlers brands include Harvester, Toby Carvery, All Bar One, O’Neills’s, Nicholson’s, Miller & Carter, Browns and Vintage Inns.

The contract is the latest in a succession of new business wins by MITIE.
