West law firm Foot Anstey, which has an office in Bristol, has been appointed to provide specialist advice to Sutton Harbour Holdings on its ambitious masterplan to transform Sutton Harbour in Plymouth into a national destination.

The plan, announced in November, will include restaurants, cafés, shops, offices and apartments and will transform underused sites around the harbour, creating a rival to the likes of Albert Dock in Liverpool and St Katharine Docks in the City of London.

Details included in the plan are 350,000 sq ft of mixed-use projects with an overall development value of around £75m.

Sutton Harbour Holdings chief executive Jason Schofield said: “The masterplan marks the next exciting chapter in the development and celebration of Sutton Harbour as a national destination and focal point in Plymouth’s world class waterfront. We are delighted that Foot Anstey – a key stakeholder who clearly shares in our ambition for the city – will be playing a crucial role in turning this ambitious plan into reality.”

Foot Anstey managing partner John Westwell added: “Foot Anstey is really excited to be so closely involved in a project that will have such a dramatic impact on Plymouth. We look forward to providing our specialist input into the continued transformation of Sutton Harbour to attract investment and create opportunity.”

The firm is working on the outline planning application for this scheme which has already attracted interest from potential occupiers.

The masterplan builds on 20 years of award-winning development in the harbour, which has already created a 490-berth marina, quality apartments, visitor attractions, fish market, offices and leisure and retail space.
