Clarke Willmott, the national law firm with an office in Bristol, has renewed its partnership with Somerset County Cricket Club for the upcoming season, remaining as its preferred legal partner.

The firm has a long-running relationship with the club, having provided it with legal advice for more than 30 years.

It also sponsors the SCCC Academy, which supports young people to develop their cricket skills while also providing a link between the club and firm, with Academy players carrying out work placements with Clarke Willmott.

Clarke Willmott partner Chris Thorne, who is also head of its office in Taunton – where Somerset play their home games – said: “The club is at the heart of our community and the chance for people to engage with first-class sport right on our own doorstep this summer will be more welcome than ever, as a distraction from the recent difficult times.”

Somerset commercial director Caroline Herbert said she was delighted that Clarke Willmott had renewed its partnership with the club for another year as preferred legal partner.

“We have worked together for a number of years through sponsorship, advertising and by utilising Clarke Willmott’s legal services,” she added.

“Clarke Willmott’s additional support of the Academy in 2020 and 2021 demonstrates how much they value, not only the professional side of the cricket club, but also its future players and youngsters with an interest in cricket.”

Under the partnership, Clarke Willmott will also have branding at Somerset’s Cooper Associates County Ground, pictured, at all of its matches this summer.

Somerset’s other sponsors and partners include accountants PKF Francis Clarke, Nuffield Health and drinks firms Thatchers and St Austell Brewery.

Clarke Willmott provides a full range of legal services for businesses and individuals across its offices in Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton and Taunton.
