Transport expert taken on by engineering consultancy Clarkebond’s Bristol office

Engineering and management consultancy Clarkebond has appointed transport professional David Knight as associate director to lead the transport planning department in its Bristol Office.

A recognised authority on several aspects of transport and development, David, pictured, has gained expertise over 25 years in senior positions in leading transport planning practices TPA, WSP and Colin Buchanan.

He has extensive experience of delivering projects of all sizes across many different sectors and has been an active contributor to travel planning best practice through his work on site-specific advice panels, industry-recognised training courses and masters degree course lecturing.

David holds the Transport Planning Professional qualification and is a chartered fellow of the Institute of Logistics and Transport and a member of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.

In addition to serving Clarkebond’s existing client base, David’s role will be to foster new client relationships and to grow the transport team.

He said: “I am pleased to be working for this well-regarded and long-established engineering consultancy here in Bristol and looking forward to developing transport planning in synergy with the company’s design and implementation expertise.”

David is one of a number of recent key appointments in Clarkebond’s Bristol office in response to planned growth in the transport, structures, geo-environmental and infrastructure departments.

Director Max Thurgood said: “This is a significant appointment for Clarkebond. We have developed a strong skill set around transport and with David at the helm we look forward to our next stage of growth in this discipline.”

The firm, which provides civil, structural, geo-environmental and management and implementation services, was last year was ranked as one of the fastest-growing consultants in the country, according to Building Magazine’s Top 150 consultants list.
