Law firm Temple Bright aims for the double as growth continues into second year

Bristol law firm Temple Bright is on course to double in size in its second year, building on a very strong first 12 months during which it took revenues well above £1m.

The firm has also added three new partners in recent weeks, taking the total to 11, as well as strengthening the prospects for further revenue growth.

Several more partners are also expected to join this year, according to co-founder Tim Summers.

Temple Bright launched in March 2010 with three partners and immediately found a demand for its innovative ‘chambers practice’ business model – like a barristers’ chamber, Temple Bright’s lawyers are all experienced specialists who advise personally rather than delegating to juniors.

The practice uses sophisticated back-end and cloud technologies to reduce its costs and fees.

The latest recruits are all experienced lawyers. Chris Crane is a corporate and commercial lawyer with particular expertise in technology, Bruce Lunt is a property litigator and Craig MacLeod is a commercial property specialist.

Temple Bright clients include the Bristol-based gourmet pie-makers Pieminister, whose co-founder  Tristan Hogg said: “The firm gives a totally different kind of service.

“You deal with an experienced partner on every aspect of the work and the price is fixed from the beginning. It’s far better than the typical law firm experience.”

Internally the founders are working to maintain a culture which reflects the high standards of their City backgrounds while being unstuffy and informal.

There are conference facilities at the firm’s offices but the partners often meet clients in coffee shops. Tim added: “The clients we work with are often looking for less rigid and formal ways of working.  Our approach means we can provide expert advice which is more efficient, affordable and down to earth.”
