Bristol-based specialist law firm Jordans Corporate Law has appointed Anthony Young as head of corporate law.

Jordans said attracting such a highly experienced corporate lawyer was a clear indication of continued growth at the firm.

Jordans Corporate Law was launched in 2013 under the Alternative Business Structure arrangements, introduced to encourage new and innovative entrants into the legal market.

Anthony, pictured, trained and practised in the City at Ashurst and Charles Russell before moving to Bristol. He worked with Bevan Brittan where he became a partner and then joined Bristol firm Veale Wasbrough Vizards.

He has been recommended in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners legal directories.

At Jordan’s he will continue to advise on all aspects of corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions transactions, group re-organisations, joint ventures and shareholders arrangements as well as providing general listed and unlisted corporate governance advice.

During his career, Anthony has worked on a wide range of transactions – from highly complex cross-border transactions through to growth acquisitions for local SME businesses.

On the key issues that businesses face in the current climate, Anthony said: “Brexit will throw up challenges for many companies, not least uncertainty for shareholders and directors about how resilient their business will be, about financial strength and whether they will have the flexibility to adapt their business model as events unfold.”

Larger businesses with more extended shareholder groups, says Mr Young, face the additional challenge of increasing accountability and scrutiny. “They need to regularly audit their decision making process, ensuring their senior management are fully informed and involved.”

He believes his experience working with many different clients in a variety of sectors and his breadth of expertise will further enhance JCL’s ability to help its clients meet these challenges.

The firm’s director of legal practice Debbie Farman said: “I am delighted Anthony is joining us.  JCL has established an unrivalled reputation for providing specialist unbundled legal services to both the professional services and corporate market.

“With his corporate transactional experience, Anthony’s appointment opens a whole new growth chapter for the firm – which is what our clients have been asking for. He will be a fantastic addition to the JCL senior team.”

Anthony added: “Like most lawyers, I have worked with Jordans for a long time, from my early years at Ashursts onwards.  They are a household name in the corporate legal sector and are arguably the leading business of their type, with a genuinely deep and impressive client base.

“There are many opportunities to exploit with JCL and its sister companies. I am really excited to be joining JCL at this point in their growth lifecycle.”
