Bristol and Bath are working together for the first time to raise their international profile at MIPIM, Europe’s largest property fair taking place in Cannes next week.

The West of England’s four  local authorities will run a large stand to showcase the area as a world-class location for creativity and technology to an international audience of developers and commercial investors.

There will be particular emphasis on the Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone and the five Enterprise Areas of Bath, Filton, Emersons Green/Bristol & Bath Science Park and North Somerset’s J21 Enterprise Area.

The West of England authorities – Bristol City Council, Bath & NE Somerset, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset – will now work together to offer a single, shared inward investment service. All four are covered by the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), which is driving job creation and economic regeneration for the area.

Business organisations have been calling for such a joined up approach for many years.

LEP chair Colin Skellett said: “We are a successful, growing area with ambitious plans for the future, including 95,000 new jobs.

“Our Bristol & Bath MIPIM 2012 promotion is a key part of our efforts to attract strategic investment and employment opportunities, fostering enterprise and growth within the West of
England.”

During the event Bristol will be picking up FDI Magazine’s award as the winner of European City of The Future in their category. The city’s strong concentration of hi-tech and knowledge-based sectors, its business friendliness and excellent quality of life were
highlighted in the prestigious business awards.
