Bristol start-ups can learn how to protect their fledgling brands at a free workshop hosted by BRAVE Enterprise next month.

The intellectual property (IP) workshop on July 13 is being run by Business West at BRAVE’s offices at The Coach House, 2 Upper York Street, Bristol BS2 8QN.

BRAVE director Liz Sands, pictured, said the best time to address IP issues was when starting a business or shortly afterwards.

“Your trade name, brand name, logo and visual identity are all valuable assets that should be protected,” she said.

“Start-up businesses should therefore consider registering a trade mark to start building brand reputation. You should also address any copyright issues early on, especially if you are using third-party businesses.

“This free workshop will teach you how to do this and much more. But book early as demand for places is likely to be high.”

BRAVE has helped thousands of entrepreneurs start and run profitable businesses since it was launched in the 1980s.

It also delivers the New Enterprise Allowance scheme which helps people who are unemployed start their own business.
