An event to showcase leading women in technology is to be held in Bristol with the underlying theme that they are still massively underrepresented in the key sector.

Staged by Bristol-based cloud consultancy Desynit on April 16, Inspiring Women in Bristol will take as its starting point a recent report that shows the UK has more female leaders in technology than any other European country.

However, according to another recent research report, women still account for just 16.4% of the country’s IT & telecoms professionals.

Against this backdrop, attendees at the event will have the chance to benefit from three inspirational speakers from the business & technology world as they share their stories on successful leadership.

Among the speakers at the event at Jamie’s Italian on Park Street between 6pm-8pm, will be Jaya Chakrabarti MBE, CEO and co-founder of Bristol digital agency Nameless and chair of Bristol Manifesto.

Jaya, pictured, who describes herself as a digital activist, is a passionate advocate for technology as a means to change people’s lives. Her work has led her to advisory roles on various boards of commercial and democratic organisations, including Ofcom & Bristol Chamber of Commerce, to encourage others to be more active in the creation of a fairer and better world.

Joining her will be Simone Barratt, CEO of London-based dotDigital, who has more than 15 years’ experience of leading ecommerce and online marketing teams.

She has grown businesses to multi-million dollar from incorporation. Simone will share some of the experience, knowledge and insight she has gathered along the way, to become a successful digital leader.

The third speaker will be Damilola Erinle, senior VP of financial services with cloud technology provider Salesforce.com. Damilola has worked as a leader in sales and business development for more than a decade, heading up teams in world-class technology organisations to drive million dollar growth in international markets.

As someone who has managed to accelerate their career while building and maintaining solid relationships in the process, Dami is a great leadership role model to her colleagues and peers.

Salesforce.com and email marketing automation software provider dotmailer are sponsoring the event, which is open to Bristol and the South West’s business and technology community – including men.
