HR advice service launched by recruitment consultancy to support clients’ growth

Bristol recruitment consultancy Moxie and Mettle has started a complimentary HR advisory service to help clients ensure their staffing policies support business growth.

Every time the Pill-based firm, which specialises in the creative sector, places a new candidate with a client company it will offer a half-day consultation with HR director Melanie King at no extra fee. 

It hopes the service will encourage business owners to place a greater importance on HR by highlighting the key role it plays in future growth and success.

Melanie, pictured, is a highly experienced HR manager, business consultant, trainer, assessor and advisor with more than 20 years’ experience as an HR consultant and Investors in People practitioner.

Her initial three-hour consultation will include a review of a business’s current employees and its HR practices with the aim of identifying areas for development in line with business plans.

During the session Melanie – who has a particular interest in strategic HR, leadership and management, talent development and recruitment – will guide the businesses through a structured list of outcomes to identify key areas of focus and actions to will support business growth and development.

Melanie said: “HR is an area that often gets neglected in fast-paced business environments when there are other urgent calls on people’s time such as client deadlines.

“Yet effective HR policies which ensure businesses recruit the right candidates then train, retain and get the most out of their staff are vital to running a successful growing business.

“This is a great opportunity for managers to sit down and take a look at some of those HR areas ‘that we never get around to’.

“We are flexible in how it is structured and can focus on areas our clients want to look at, but we can also provide an overall review of HR practices and identify areas for development.”

Moxie and Mettle was launched last year by Liz Gadd and Rebecca Hodgson, who worked together in a range of roles for 20 years and always shared a passion for finding skilled talent for businesses and exciting roles for candidates.

The firm works with companies across the UK to find and place talented staff in PR, marketing, digital, communications, creative, events and social media roles.

Liz and Rebecca felt the additional HR offering would be helpful to many of their clients across these sectors for whom finding, retaining and upskilling top quality staff is a growing challenge in a highly saturated job market.

Melanie joined Mettle and Moxie as HR director after many years working in senior HR roles across sectors including healthcare, hospitality, print, manufacturing, creative industries, construction, retail, education, youth training and the voluntary sector.

As well as working with Moxie and Mettle’s business clients, she also works with job hunters through the consultancy’s mentoring service Your Moxie Coach and hosts regular workshops to help candidates improve their job seeking skills.
