Telecoms firms Pure Comms has made a number of new appointments, including former Weston College director of business growth Jane Vivian, who has joined as business development director.

Jane, pictured, the wife of Pure Comms founder and CEO Rob Vivian, spent two years at Weston College and was previously principal economic development officer at North Somerset Council, where she played a pivotal role in the launch of its ‘In North Somerset’ brand as well as helping to establish the area as a successful business destination.

In her new role, Jane has taken control of marketing and is overseeing new business development. She also sits on Pure Comms’ board, where she will have influence over the company’s commercial decisions and strategic direction.

Also joining the firm, based near Clevedon, is sales executive Polly Howe, Gemma Kyriacou, who is managing billing administration, and senior technician Olly Blanchard.

Since its launched six years ago, Pure Comms has experienced strong growth by landing a string of major customers including auction house Bonhams, Bristol Airport, recruitment firm Opus, Computerworld and the Cooperative. It now employs 15 people across its offices near Clevedon and St Austell, Cornwall.

Jane Vivian said: “I am naturally delighted to be taking on this new role and will utilise my previous career experience to ensure Pure Comms continues to thrive as a business – pushing innovation and winning new clients.”

Non-executive chairman Julian Telling added: “It’s not often a business can welcome somebody of Jane’s calibre though its door so I’m excited about this appointment.

“She is a natural leader, organiser and motivator and has strong connections into the South West business community. This is a statement of intent for Pure Comms and a clear signal that we mean business.”

Polly Howe, who has joined Pure Comms’ St Austell office, is experienced in sales, having previously worked at Teddington Electronics in the town as a sales account manager.

She will use this knowledge to target and engage with customers in Cornwall as well as promote the Pure Comms brand.

As well as managing billing administration, Gemma is working as an assistant to technical services director Harry Bishop. She previously worked for HSBC and parcel deliver firm DPD.

Olly, an IP cloud-based solutions specialist, will head the technology innovation side of Pure Comms, helping clients identify infrastructure issues as more businesses move into cloud-based technologies.

He will also deliver Pure Comms’ VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) service to clients across the UK.
