The head of private wealth at Bristol-headquartered national law firm Burges Salmon has been named among the world’s top private client practitioners.

Suzanna Harvey, pictured, appears in the 2024 edition of the prestigious eprivateclient 50 Most Influential table, which recognises the key figures in the sector.

The individuals in the list, drawn from across accountancy, legal, trust and family law, were selected following a comprehensive research process by wealth management sector analysis provider PAM Insight, with judges considering the achievements, market reputation, talent and breadth of skills shown by professionals across the private wealth industry.

Rankings were also based on direct recommendations from eprivateclient readers.

Suzanna, who was appointed as head of Burges Salmon’s growing private wealth practice last year, works with a broad range of UK and overseas clients including high net worth individuals and their families, entrepreneurs, private banks, financial institutions and trust companies.

A senior lead in the firm’s personal immigration team, she also advises clients considering moving to the UK on their immigration options as well as advising both UK and non-UK resident clients on a wide range of tax matters including income, capital gains and inheritance tax.

Suzanna said: “It’s very pleasing to be recognised by eprivateclient and I want to share this with the whole team.

“We’ve really cultivated an environment of genuine collaboration where we all work together to benefit from our different specialisms; it’s fantastic to work with such a talented and supportive team.”

Suzanna follows in the footsteps of Burges Salmon’s previous head of private wealth Beatrice Puoti, who appeared in the eprivateclient 50 Most Influential table for two years running.

The firm’s private wealth team is known for advising on complex cross-jurisdictional work and acting on some of the highest value and most complicated succession, tax planning and trust restructuring transactions.

It is also an expert pool of knowledge, helping the firm’s clients structure their affairs, preserve their property and pass it on to their successors, while also providing advice on tax and trust planning, divorce and nuptial agreements.

Suzanna’s nomination for the 2024 eprivateclient 50 Most Influential table comes after Burges Salmon’s private wealth team won coveted Private Client Law Firm (Full Service) Award at the 2023 eprivateclient Excellence Awards and retained its tier 1 ranking in the eprivateclient Top Law Firms guide.

The team has also continued to be highly ranked in the key UK legal directories.

Burges Salmon has 110 partners and more than 1,000 staff across its offices in Bristol, London and Edinburgh.
