Staff in the Bristol office of integrated wealth management and professional services group Evelyn Partners are mourning the loss of long-serving partner and colleague Dave Mouncey.

Dave, pictured, a well-known and highly respected figure in Bristol’s business scene, died suddenly last month aged 63.

Hailing originally from Romford, Dave trained at Arthur Andersen and joined Solomon Hare in Bristol in 1993.

He remained with the firm through its evolution, first as Smith & Williamson and then more recently as Evelyn Partners, serving for several years as a partner in the tax team.

A past chair of professional body the ICAEW in the West of England, Dave was an avid runner and had competed in several of the world’s top marathons, including the so-called Big 6 – London, Berlin, Tokyo, Boston, Chicago and New York.

Nigel Hardy, partner at Evelyn Partners in Bristol, said: “As soon as I joined the firm six years ago Dave offered to help me in any way he could, and he did so on many occasions.

“Dave treated everybody equally and would do anything for anyone. He would always go the extra mile and was passionate about developing our younger team members, taking a full part in the social life of the office and helping to set up a yoga club.

“He had an immense body of knowledge about tax and an ability to make the complex understandable. He helped to build a great team in the tax compliance field and this will continue.

“His work life and social life were one and the same, so his colleagues and clients were also his friends, and many of them were among the 250 people who attended his funeral.

“Above all, Dave will be remembered for his kindness, his devotion to his family and his zest for life. It was an honour and a privilege to have worked with him and his legacy will live on.”
