Gregg Latchams puts Bristol in the picture for charity

A watercolour showing animated favourites Wallace and Gromit is among the artwork on offer at one of two charity art events being organised by Bristol law firm Gregg Latchams.

The two events, which take place next month at View Art Gallery, in Hotwell Road in the city, are being held to raise money for the Prince’s Trust, which supports disadvantaged young people and whose work could not be more valuable or relevant at present.

The first event is an auction on 1 September at 6pm. Art connoisseurs will be able to bid for a wide range of work by the likes of Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park, George Tute, Fran Williams, Florence Blood and Laura Cramer.

The second event, ‘Unsigned’, is an exhibition and sale of postcard-sized pieces by professional and amateur artists which runs from 1 to 4 September.  This sale is unusual because the identity of the artist of each piece will be kept secret until the event ends.  Each piece can be bought for a minimum donation of £20, but higher donations for this worthy cause would be gratefully accepted.

All art sold at both events will remain on display until 4 September, and only after the exhibition will it be handed over to its new owner.

The events have been organised by GL Enterprises, a team of trainees from Gregg Latchams, who are taking part in The Prince’s Trust Enterprise Project. The Enterprise Project challenges businesses to generate £10,000 in a six month period. The team hopes that the success of this event will break through the £10,000 barrier and push on a long way beyond.

Managing partner Richard Hill said: “We are absolutely delighted to be arranging these two events in support of the Prince's Trust which are the culmination of our fund-raising drive over the last six months. We are very grateful to the artists who have made this possible by their donations and we hope that many people in Bristol and beyond will come along and bid generously to take a post card or painting home.”

Anyone wishing to attend the auction is encouraged to email GL Enterprises first on gl-enterprises@gregglatchams.com to give organisers an idea of numbers.

Further information is available at www.gregglatchams.com/unsigned, which includes an auction catalogue and a list of artists who have donated postcards to the ‘Unsigned’ sale.
