A senior associate at Bristol law firm Gregg Latchams has contributed to a new book which aims to help parents who are separating.

101 Questions Answered About Separating With Children contains information and guidance for parents from a range of expert family solicitors, barristers, mediators and other professionals, including Melanie Bataillard-Samuel, Gregg Latchams’ family law team.

The book, published by Bath Publishing, is the brainchild of the founders of support organisations OnlyMums and OnlyDads. The practical content covers the legal landscape surrounding separation, methods of coping with the associated psychological impact, what it means for the children involved and where parents can turn for further help and support.

Melanie, pictured, contributed to two distinct sections: ‘How can technology help parents and children cope after separation?’ and ‘What does it mean to ‘instruct’ a solicitor?’

Melanie, who specialises in international family law and international assets, said: “I was delighted to be asked to contribute to this invaluable resource. I am often working with clients who need clarity around the implications and the process of separation, which is far from straight forward. It’s still quite a taboo subject for many people.

“At Gregg Latchams we know that giving clear, digestible legal advice at difficult times in our clients’ lives is of paramount importance in our work to find positive solutions so it’s great to be able to direct them to a comprehensive resource such as this which is written for the parent perspective.”

The book’s editor Rebecca Giraud, who is also a director of OnlyMums, which aims to help families going through separation and divorce, added: “101 Questions Answered aims to clearly explain family law processes, answering the most common questions that separating parents ask with a degree of authority. We are delighted to have had Gregg Latchams share their expertise in this book.”

The book is available to buy here, priced £22.79.
