Grant Thornton’s Bristol tax team boosted with new director appointment

Business and financial advisory firm Grant Thornton has appointed Allister Weir as a director in its Bristol-based South West tax team.

Allister, pictured, will lead the firm’s corporate tax advisory and compliance practice across the region.

A history graduate from the University of Birmingham, Allister has 12 years’ corporate tax experience with a Big Four firm in London. He has also served as head of international tax at the FTSE-250 travel group TUI Travel where he also gained experience of working in emerging markets.

Allister’s clients have included small to large privately-held businesses and FTSE-100 and FTSE-250 companies across a number of sectors, including property, travel and tourism, hospitality, construction, telecoms and facilities management.

Grant Thornton South West managing partner John Golding said: “Allister has extensive experience of advising clients on all aspects of tax planning, from UK only advisory work to international structuring work. He also has significant transactions experience, both from a structuring and due diligence perspective.
