The Hampton by Hilton hotel, which is due to open in Bristol in June, has appointed Imran Ali as its general manager.

Work on the 186-room hotel is now under way in a converted former office building on the corner of Bond Street and York Street close to the existing Holiday Inn Bristol City Centre.

It is one of a number of new hotels due to open over the next couple of years in and around the city centre to meet an ever-growing demand for accommodation.

Tourist chiefs expect the up-coming Shaun the Sheep public arts trail around the city and events linked to its year as European Green Capital to further increase the need for more hotel rooms.

Imran, pictured, takes over at the Hampton by Hilton after two years at the 201-room Doubletree By Hilton in Redcliffe Way.

He said: “There is definitely an appetite for both business and leisure travellers to visit the city and to stay in quality accommodation.

“It’s therefore vital that the city can provide suitable accommodation to any new visitors and to have a highly-respected brand like Hampton by Hilton in the city centre helps cement its position as a leading player for business and leisure.

“It’s exciting to see the transformation of York House, which has been vacant for a number of years, and being in such a prominent position having the building upgraded will reflect well on Bristol.”

Hampton is one of the brands of the Hilton Worldwide group and owns more than 2,000 hotels across North America, Europe and India.

The new Bristol Hampton by Hilton will be managed by Focus Hotels Management, which also manages Bristol’s Doubletree By Hilton along with 26 other hotels across the UK.
