Father-and-son football managers Gary and Lee Johnson will talk about their life on and off the pitch when they appear at an exclusive event for charity Above & Beyond in Bristol next month.

Cheltenham Town boss Gary is an official ambassador for the charity’s £830,000 Bristol Heart Institute (BHI) Appeal All money raised from the evening on July 26 will go towards the appeal – a cause very close to the Johnson family.

Gary underwent triple heart bypass surgery in March 2017 at the BHI and, to thank its dedicated staff, became an appeal ambassador just months later.

He will be joined by Bristol City head coach Lee at the one-off event at the club’s Ashton Gate Stadium.

The pair have promised to talk about their life in football on and off the pitch in a candid Q&A session – with a lot of laughs guaranteed along the way. Gary was City manager between 2005 and 2010.

Joining them on the night will be Bristol comedian Mark Watson with live music from singer Tim Pitman and Motown band Mission Blue, as well as a charity auction and a three-course meal.

MCs for the evening will be BBC Radio Bristol presenter Emma Britton and actor and avid football fan Tom Watt, who will lead the charity auction with once-in-a-lifetime prizes up for grabs.

Tickets are £120 per person or £1,200 – for a table of 10 – include a drink on arrival in the Heineken Lounge and a three-course meal.

VIP tickets at £200 per person or £2,000 for a table of 10, are also on sale with exclusive access to Ashton Gate’s executive lounge for arrival drinks, accompanied by singer Tim Pitman. VIP tables will be joined by a footballing legend for the evening.
