Bristol-headquartered national law firm Bevan Brittan is taking on its largest number of graduate trainees and apprentices for seven years as its growth continues.

Eleven graduate trainees and three apprentices are joining the firm this month in Bristol and across its offices in Birmingham, Leeds and London. A further two apprentices are also due to join in January.

The firm achieved an 8% increase in revenue to £37.7m in the financial year 2015-16 while net profits grew by 9%. Its profit per equity partner (PEP) rose by 7.4% to £305,000 on growth from its private sector work as well as from its core public sector clients.

While Bevan Brittan has taken graduate trainees for many years, this year’s intake for its apprenticeship scheme is only its second and follows its first three apprentices who joined the firm in September last  year.

Under the two-year apprenticeship scheme, which is open to candidates who have completed their A levels, apprentices achieve CILEx accredited qualifications, setting them on the path to becoming chartered legal executives.

Bevan Brittan managing partner Duncan Weir said: “We are delighted to be taking in a set of talented young graduates and school leavers who all show great potential for the future. The continued, successful growth of the firm in terms of clients, revenues and people means that we can take our largest intake for many years.

“We are committed to developing a pipeline of new generation lawyers. Through our apprenticeship scheme, we also want to support diverse pathways into the profession that open up opportunities to a wider set of young people.

“These lawyers-to-be join at an exciting time for Bevan Brittan as the firm continues on its trajectory of growth.”

The firm advises all the local authorities in England, a third of all NHS bodies and 40 housing associations. But it also works with more than 100 private sector companies – an important and growing market sector for the firm.

Following the opening of Leeds office last September the firm now employs 52 partners and 295 staff.
