Community organisations in parts of Bristol and South Gloucestershire are being given an opportunity to benefit from a special fund launched this month by city law firm Barcan+Kirby.

The Barcan+Kirby Community Fund will give monetary support to groups and individuals working for the benefit of the communities in areas of the city where the firm has offices.

Community groups and individuals can apply for up to £300 in support of existing programmes or to kick start new projects. There will be two opportunities to apply for funding, one this month and a second in June. The deadline for the first round of applications is Saturday February 29.

The fund is aimed at individuals and community groups based in the following postcodes – BS1 (city centre), BS3 (Bedminster), BS7 (Bishopston), BS8 (Clifton), BS15 (Kingswood) and BS35 (Thornbury).

Barcan+Kirby managing partner Bill Willcocks said: “We are really excited to announce the launch of our latest initiative to give those who work tirelessly for the local communities around Bristol a helping hand.

“Being an active supporter of the communities in which we operate is an important part of who we are as local high street solicitors. We strive to bring out the best in not just our staff, but also in the communities that we serve around Bristol.

“We would like to encourage organisations and individuals actively working for the benefit of their communities to submit an application to the Barcan+Kirby Community Fund.”

Applications can be made via the Barcan+Kirby website at https://barcankirby.co.uk/about-us/charitable-support/

Barcan+Kirby has six high street branches across Bristol and South Gloucestershire providing a comprehensive range of legal services, including residential conveyancing, family law and mediation as well as issues relating to Power of Attorney and wills and estate planning.

Last year Barcan+Kirby won Bristol Law Society’s Firm of the Year (under 20 partners) Award for the second time in four years. It was also won the business award for gender at the Bristol Diversity Awards 2019.
