Bristol has been chosen as one of only three places in England to host a free one-day national roadshow of seminars and workshops aimed at helping smaller business owners.

The events, staged by Britain’s biggest business representation group, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), will give practical advice and support to help owners of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Free seminars will run throughout the day on subjects spanning making best use of social media, the increasing risk of cybercrime to  businesses, getting the right auto-enrolment pension plan and the vital role played by female  business owners.

There will also be an exhibition area for business owners to speak face-to-face with FSB providers and event sponsors FSB Insurance Service, waste management company Biffa and printer firm Epson, who will be on hand to offer support and advice.

The Bristol FSB Roadshow – which is open to  FSB members and non-members – takes place at the Paintworks Events Space, Bath Road, on November 2. It will be opened by a so-far-unnamed VIP.

The other two roadshow events will be staged in Windsor and Leeds.

FSB is staging the events to ensure its members are getting practical support and advice  and to show potential members the benefits of joining the 170,000 strong organisation.

FSB Bristol branch chairman Ken Simpson, pictured, who is also regional chairman for Gloucestershire and the West of England, said he hoped the roadshow would be one small business owners in the region would fully benefit from.

“It is great news that Bristol has been chosen to stage one of these three FSB national roadshows and it will be a great opportunity for us to showcase to visitors from the outside the area just what a vibrant and exciting small business culture we have here.

“Each of the professionally-led roadshow seminars on the day will offer attendees an insight into practical ways of dealing with the issues they face on a daily basis.

“And hopefully it will also give them tips and advice which can make their businesses even more successful.

“We hope that many business owners from this area will sign up to attend and, as it is free to take part, they will have nothing to lose but plenty to gain.”

More details of the seminar programme will be available shortly.

Anyone wishing to register to attend or inquire about sponsorship opportunities or exhibiting at the Bristol FSB Roadshow, should visit fsbroadshows.org.uk or call 0808 2020 888.
