Bristol law firm Barcan+Kirby has promoted its head of commercial property Alex Castiglione to partner.

Alex joined the firm in 2002 as a temporary receptionist but stayed to train as a Chartered Legal Executive, gaining her qualifications to specialise in commercial property.

Since qualifying in 2007, with her training funded by Barcan+Kirby, Alex has continued to grow the firm’s commercial property division from its Clifton office, dealing with legal issues relating to property sales and purchases, land acquisitions, plot sales and commercial refinancing.

Two years ago she became the first legal executive to be promoted to senior associate in the firm’s history, followed by a further promotion last year to head of commercial property.

Now as partner she will continue to grow the firm’s commercial property offering across its six offices in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

Barcan+Kirby managing partner Bill Willcocks said: “Congratulations to Alex, who really is considered a ‘home-grown talent’ at the firm.

“We are proud of her achievements and her ongoing contribution to the firm, not only in terms of her legal expertise and commercial awareness, but also as a valued member of the team.”

Alex added: “Having started at the firm in 2002, it proves that hard work, loyalty and dedication really do pay off. I’m looking forward to working with the partners to expand the firm and its offerings in 2018.

“I would like to thank my current commercial property team who have worked so hard in the past year, and to management for supporting me throughout my career.”

Barcan+Kirby offers a comprehensive range of legal services to individuals and businesses across the South West and nationwide.

Last year it won CSR Firm of the Year 2017 at the Bristol Law Society Awards.
