Free expert advice for anyone concerned about the cost of caring for loved ones with dementia

The financial and legal aspects of caring for someone with dementia will be explained by experts at a free seminar in Bristol in April.

Bristol-based Whitechurch Financial Consultants is joining forces with BRACE, the dementia research charity, and South West law firm Clarke Willmott solicitors to provide expert advice on the costs and responsibilities.

The seminar, on April 20 at Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, will also highlight and support the vital work of BRACE in funding world-class research into dementia.

Anyone caring for someone with dementia knows it is a uniquely devastating disease that can attack memory, personality, language and physical abilities. It can last for years – even decades – and currently has no cure.

With rising life expectancy has come an increased prevalence of dementia. Yet without careful planning, the financial toll can be nearly as cruel as the personal loss.

The event will start at 10.30am with a welcome by Gloucestershire County Cricket Club chief executive Will Brown, followed by:

  • Professor Lisney, chair of BRACE Trustees, who will give an update on the progress of dementia research
  • Anne Minihane, a partner in Clarke Willmott’s private capital team, who will talk through the importance and process of appointing a Lasting Power of Attorney.
  • Mark Stone, financial planning director at Whitechurch Financial Consultants, who will follow on with expert advice on managing wealth and income for long-term care.

At the end of the seminar there will be an opportunity to meet and talk one-to-one with the experts.

Attendees will also get free entry to the inaugural Specsavers County Championship match of the season – Gloucestershire v Glamorgan.

Places are limited so registration is compulsory. Places must be reserved by calling the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club team on 0117 910 8000.
