Bristol boutique law firm MS Rubric has strengthened its position as the UK’s leading veterinary solicitors by advising on a further four acquisitions in the sector.

The firm has acted on behalf of Bristol practices Animal Health Centre in Horfield and Viking Vets in Henbury on their sale to CVS and VetPartners respectively.

It also helped VetPartners’ acquisition of Jonathan Wood Ltd, which has two practices in Devon, and handled the sale of Summer Lane in Redhill, North Somerset, to Westfield Veterinary Centre.

The deals follow MS Rubric’s involvement in the recent sale of Three Counties Equine Hospital in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, to VetPartners, which has more than 400 sites across the UK.

MS Rubric has acted on sales in the UK veterinary sector with a total acquisition value of £500m – making it the country’s leading law firm in the highly active specialist area.

The firm, based at Aust, also acts for individuals and businesses in a wide range of areas ranging from conveyancing to employment and corporate law.

MS Rubric managing director James Howell, pictured, said: “The veterinary sector has become dominated by the corporate practices, all of whom remain active in their acquisitions.

“This sector has become a key area of specialism for us as a corporate law firm as it continues to consolidate, and we are delighted to have helped complete the sales of another four thriving veterinary businesses in our ‘home region’ of the South West.

“We continue to act for independent practices that are not selling to corporate acquirers, providing them with support in property, corporate and employment matters.”

MS Rubric was originally founded by experienced West of England lawyer James Howell in Bath in 2012 and relocated to Aust in 2015.
