Bristol-headquartered national communications consultancy JBP has appointed Steve Anderson-Dixon as its new chief executive to support the company’s future growth ambitions.

Mr Anderson-Dixon, pictured, is a former chief operating officer of Trinity Mirror’s regionals division, the largest national and regional media publisher in the UK. He has been a board member at JBP for just over five years.

He replaces JBP founder Jennifer Bryant Pearson, who takes up the new role of founder director with a focus on client development.

JBP was launched by Jennifer 33 years ago with a single office in Bristol, making it the city’s longest-established PR agency.

Today it also has offices in London, Cardiff, Manchester and Warwick, and is a leading media, stakeholder and political communications and engagement specialist.

It has a focus on business/professional services, charity, education, energy, environmental, health and social care, property and regeneration, and public services.

Chris Lawrance and James Turgoose will continue as managing directors of the business in Bristol and London respectively.

Jennifer Bryant Pearson said: “Steve has been a board director at JBP for a number of years and has an extensive track record in the media, as well as significant commercial acumen, which will help support our strategic business plans.

“We have set some very ambitious growth targets and Steve’s appointment, together with my new role, will allow us to focus both on new business projects as well as developing ever stronger relationships with our existing clients and networks. He will have a key role to play in developing our ambitious business strategy.”

Mr Anderson-Dixon added: “I’m pleased to have joined at a great time for JBP following a number of significant wins to complement our growing client base. The opportunity for further growth is really very exciting as we accelerate our strategic plan for what is one of the UK’s leading businesses in the PR, stakeholder engagement and public affairs industry.

“I’m delighted to be able to bring my experience and connections to JBP and help to work alongside my talented colleagues to realise the full potential of the business.”

In his role at Trinity Mirror, Anderson-Dixon was responsible for developing its leading regional news brands including iconic titles such as the Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo, Newcastle Chronicle, Birmingham Mail and Western Mail.

Prior to joining Trinity Media, he spent 28 years at Northcliffe Media, the Daily Mail & General Trust’s regional newspaper arm, where he became managing director of its South West & Wales operation, which published titles such as the Bristol Post, Western Daily Press and Bath Chronicle. The division is now part of Trinity Mirror.

He also holds non-executive directorships with the British Veterinary Association, privately-owned boutique property investment business InVesta, and The Publica Group, a local authority-owned business that aims to provide improved services to district councils in Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.
