Former IoD Bristol chair joins Smith & Williamson as regional business development manager

The Bristol office of accountancy, investment management and tax group Smith & Williamson has appointed Rebecca Tregarthen as senior business development manager. 

Rebecca, pictured, has more than 20 years’ experience working with a variety of companies, predominantly in marketing and business development teams in the real estate sector, and has also run her own consultancy. 

Rebecca was chair of the Bristol branch of the Institute of Directors for three years between December 2013 and December 2016 – the first woman to be elected to the role – and has also been an associate director at UWE Bristol, where she worked in the professional and executive development team of the Faculty of Business and Law to identify and leverage market opportunities.

She has described herself as an ‘inveterate socialite’ – an approach that helped her win the Venus Awards Networker of the Year title in 2014.

She joins Smith & Williamson from the Vinci Construction UK, where she was regional business development manager based in its Bristol and Cardiff offices.

At Smith & Williamson she will promote the firm’s interests in Bristol and across the South West.

Bristol office senior partner Mike Lea said: “Rebecca has excellent contacts and a fantastic reputation for business development. We have appointed her to help Smith & Williamson forge links with businesses that require our services.”

Rebecca, who is also a also Fellow of the Royal Society of Manufacturers, Arts and Commerce (RSA) and a governor Trustee of the Winterbourne International Academy. added: “I’m excited to be joining such a well-known and well-respected team and I’m looking forward to raising the profile of the office among the business community.”
