Edo, the Bristol-based user-centred design agency, has appointed former industry head for healthcare, retail and fast-moving consumer goods at Google, Jenny Cowderoy, as a non-executive director.

Edo, which last year changed its name from Sift Digital, described Jenny, pictured, as “an outstanding addition” to its team as the business scales its consulting capability.

Edo uses technology to drive cultural change and the customer experience for private and non-profit clients such as Tesco, Ofcom, Nesta and British Heart Foundation.

Jenny began her career in digital marketing in the late 1990s before moving to a global role leading digital strategy for GlaxoSmithKline.

After six years with GSK, she was approached by Google to take on the role of industry head for healthcare, later adding fast-moving consumer goods and retail to her brief.

Here she developed a range of growth, innovation and transformation strategies working with some of the world’s biggest brands.

Since leaving Google Jenny has set up her own consulting business and works with a range of technology businesses, consultancies and enterprise clients to help shape their growth.

As well as joining the Edo board, she will also lead consulting engagements with some of Edo’s key clients, with a particular focus on building its innovation capability.

Edo managing director Nick Torday said: “We met with Jen at the beginning of 2017 and were immediately impressed by her range of experience and clear-sighted vision for where Edo could go and how she could help us get there.

“Since she joined the board at the end of last year she has already brought serious rigour to working with the leadership and wider business to shape our proposition and planning. We couldn’t be happier to have her as part of the team.”

Jenny added: “I’m delighted to be joining the board of Edo and delivering some very exciting plans for the company’s growth and development. Their combination of laser focus on customers and users and a deep understanding of digital strategy makes them both a highly valuable partner to their growing customer base and one to watch in the innovation and consultancy space.”

Edo’s rebranding followed its demerger from parent group Sift in 2016. Sift founder Ben Heald remains chairman of both firms.
