The private equity team at regional law firm Foot Anstey has advised legal tech specialist Access UK on its fourth acquisition this year – the latest being the takeover of Legal Bricks, which provides property-related services to the sector.

Launched in 2017, West Midlands-based Legal Bricks delivers a customised online property search platform and conveyancing and anti-money laundering products, which are used by law firms and estate agencies to speed up the conveyancing process.

Legal Bricks’ 40-plus strong team will be joining Loughborough-based Access UK in a move that brings further expertise to its Access Legal division.

Access UK said the acquisition complemented its plans to create a digital workplace for law firms, bringing together a suite of legal software services.

The Foot Anstey team was led by partner Matt Stoate, senior associate Dominic Cromwell and associate Jack Harris, who advised Access on all legal aspects of the acquisition and worked in collaboration with all parties to deliver the outcome.

It is the fourth transaction by Access that Foot Anstey has advised on this year – the most recent being its acquisition of Oosha, the integrated cloud IT services provider.

Dominic Cromwell said: “We were delighted to have the opportunity to support the Access team on this acquisition and it is fantastic to see the breadth and quality of Access’ offering in the legal sector grow from strength to strength.

“Access’ innovative approach and client-centric culture are just a few of the reasons it aligned with Legal Bricks so well. We look forward to working with Access again in the future.”

Access Legal managing director Doug Sawers added: “The addition of Legal Bricks and its innovative suite of property and conveyancing services moves us closer to the goal of a single sign-on, single vendor, single solution.

“We take pride in listening to our customers and we know that creating a digital workplace has never been more important for law firms to facilitate improved client experience and collaboration.

“The addition of Legal Bricks extends the suite of relevant solutions we provide, adding even more richness for our customers and will provide a more efficient, simplified platform for managing the property and conveyancing process.”
Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Foot Anstey, which has offices in Exeter, London, Plymouth, Southampton, Taunton and Truro as well as Bristol, advises clients in sectors spanning development, energy and infrastructure to Islamic finance and retail and consumer.
