Firms will be urged to Go Green and support Bristol’s year as European Green Capital

Bristol businesses can find out how they can get involved with the city’s year as European Capital year and benefit from the increased support and activity that is on offer at the launch of a new initiative next Tuesday.

Low Carbon South West and regional business organisation Business West have teamed up to develop Go Green, which aims to drive, recognise and celebrate the contribution of the business community in creating a sustainable city region in Bristol and the West of England.

Businesses attending Tuesday’s launch at the At-Bristol Science Centre, Harbourside, will gain an introduction to the new Go Green online tool, learn how to improve and showcase their green credentials, and hear about the events programme.

They will also learn how to access the Go Green branding and network with other green businesses.

The event will be opened by the Lord Mayor of Bristol Councillor Alistair Watson, and speakers will include Professor Steve West, vice-chancellor UWE and chair of the West of England Initiative, Andrew Garrad, chief executive of Bristol 2015 Ltd, Liz Zeidler, chair of Bristol Green Capital Partnership, Amy Robinson, network director of Low Carbon South West and Nina Skubala, initiative manager, Business West.

There will also be a practical session with Jimmy Brannigan and Sheri-Leigh Miles, directors of Net Positive Futures and Go Green project manager Jessica Ferrow.

The event, which is aimed at decision makers and ‘implementer’ in businesses, is fully subscribed with more than 350 people registered. For more information on Go Green go to www.gogreenbusiness.co.uk
