Regional law firm Michelmores has two new partners and nine senior associates following its latest round of promotions.

The two new partners at the firm, which has offices in Bristol, Exeter and London, are Edwin Richards and James Frampton.

Edwin, pictured right, who is also a chartered accountant, has been promoted to partner in the London corporate team. He has more than 25 years’ experience in private equity, mergers and acquisitions and specialises in advising management teams, SMEs and mid-cap clients.

With his corporate finance background, Edwin advises on mandates where there is a particularly complex financial or structural element to a deal.

James, pictured below, is promoted to partner in the Exeter office’s tax, trusts & succession team. He specialises in trusts, wills and UK tax as well as advising on the protection and devolution of assets.

He has extensive experience advising families, entrepreneurs and landowners on succession planning and UK tax, with a particular interest in advising US connected families in relation to their estate planning.

He also acts for trustees based in the UK and offshore, advising on trust and UK tax issues. He divides his time between London and the South West, acting for clients based in the UK and internationally.

The nine newly promoted senior associates are from practices across the firm and include Pippa Allsop (family), Andrew White (tax, trusts & succession), Charlotte Razay (contentious agricultural property), Tom Briant-Evans (education), Jo Spalding (projects), Emma Ross-McNairn (transactional real estate), Freya Lemon (commercial), Charlotte Bolton (commercial & regulatory disputes) and Francesca Hubbard (corporate).

The senior associate promotions include four lawyers who trained at Michelmores, one lawyer who joined as a newly qualified solicitor – a fact the firm said highlighted its commitment to supporting homegrown talent.

Michelmores managing partner Tim Richards said: “I am delighted to announce our latest promotions, which recognise these individuals’ expertise and commitment to our clients across the breadth of our business.

“Our new partners Edwin Richards and James Frampton both have an excellent reputation with their clients and their promotions are thoroughly deserved.

“This year, I am also very pleased to see five of our lawyers who joined us at the early stages of their legal career promoted to senior associate – marking their continued dedication to professional development and excellent client service.

“Home-grown talent sits at the core of our recruitment strategy and is an area that we will continue to focus on over the coming years.”

Michelmores’ Bristol office has 20 partners and more than 50 specialist lawyers handling legal services across a range of sectors, including real estate, construction, agriculture, corporate and private wealth.
