Bristol-based action sports goods distributor Shiner is expanding into larger premises to meet growing demand for its products.

The move, from Redfield to Aztec West, is the result of financial support from Barclays Corporate and follows three years of sales increases and expansion overseas.

At 75,799 sq ft, the new premises will provide the firm with greater capacity to fulfil its new commitments.

It specialises in importing and distributing leading action sports goods such as skateboards, longboards, in-line skates and scooters.

It is also owns the exclusive UK selling rights to Heelys skate shoes.

The family-owned business was established by Jack Allen in 1936 and is now headed by brothers Chris and Charlie Allen.

Chris said: “Over the past five years we have outgrown our facility so this acquisition will enable us to continue grow the business for many years to come.

“Shiner has a reputation for consistently providing the action sports industry with the best brands in stock and on time.”

The company is set to hire more staff to meet its growth plans.

Barclays Corporate Bristol relationship director Matthew Smart added: “Shiner is a fantastic success story in what is a challenging environment for wholesalers and retailers.

“The management’s ambitious growth plans to increase turnover and expand overseas is a testament to their success.”
