Bristol commercial law firm Meade King has appointed experienced solicitor and former journalist Sharron Athay as its new compliance and risk manager.

Sharron, pictured, joins Meade King from the Bristol office of Cardiff-based personal injury firm NewLaw Solicitors, where she was a technical development advisor and compliance auditor responsible for technical training across the firm.

Prior to this Sharron was a technical trainer in personal injury at Bristol law firm Lyons Davidson and previously worked as a personal injury solicitor at Clarke Willmott in the city. She has also worked at the Bristol offices of Veale Wasbrough Vizards (VWV), DAC Beachcroft and David Gist Solicitors.

Sharron started her working life as a newspaper journalist at the Western Gazette in Yeovil before embarking on a legal career.

Meade King managing partner James Hawkins said: “Sharron has a great deal of experience as a lawyer and trainer, and as an auditor completing file reviews and complaints investigations. So we’re naturally delighted to welcome her to our growing team of legal specialists.

“She will help to ensure that we continue to provide a high-quality service to our many commercial and private clients and adhere to the very highest standards of legal practice.”

Meade King provides a wide range of specialist legal services to small and medium-sized businesses across the South West and nationally from its Bristol office. Its lawyers have particular expertise in areas such as commercial property, business sales and acquisitions, construction contracts, dispute resolution and employment law.

The firm is also nationally recognised for the high-quality commercial and regulatory advice it provides to dentists and other healthcare providers.
