Bishop Fleming, the regional accountancy firm with the largest of its seven offices in Bristol, has appointed Angela Appiah Shippey as its new corporate and business services director.

Angela joins from Bristol-based accountants FD Works, where she was client director for 18 months. She has more than 22 years’ experience having worked in a range of financial roles in banking, law, advertising and healthcare.

She also sits on the West of England Committee of the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) and is one of the group’s diversity leads. She is also a trustee of a local perinatal mental health charity.

Bishop Fleming said Angela’s experience and energy would help the firm deliver its next stage of ambitious growth, with a particular focus on the provision of advisory services for clients in both the private and public sector.

Angela, who will be based in the Bristol office, said: “Bishop Fleming has been a firm that I have admired from afar for a while now, so I am delighted to have joined.

“The firm, which is highly-respected, has huge ambition and the values it holds towards its clients and employees are very much aligned with my own.

“Being a trusted advisor to my clients is really important to me and joining Bishop Fleming will allow me to offer holistic solutions to their problems.

“I am looking forward to meeting clients and new businesses in the region and leveraging both my experience and the breadth of skills the firm has to offer to them.”

Bishop Fleming has grown its headcount by 13% over the past three years and now employs around 370 people across its office network, which stretches from Truro to Worcester.

It has also strengthened its senior management team with a number of appointments this year.

Partner Roger Pimblett said Angela’s arrival would be followed by further new appointments at various levels and over the coming weeks the firm would welcome a record number of recruits to its school leaver programme and graduate apprenticeships.”

He added: “I am delighted to welcome Angela to Bishop Fleming. We are committed to attracting and retaining the best talent the industry has to offer and it comes as a real positive for the local economy in uncertain times.

“Her appointment will bring great benefits to the business and our clients across the South West region. Angela brings a wealth of experience, which will help the firm’s strategy of growing our corporate business services.”

Bishop Fleming has twice been named as Britain’s fastest-growing accountancy firm as well as being featured in the Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For, for five consecutive years.
