Business journalist-turned-PR consultant Paul Mullins will be teaching aspiring entrepreneurs and established firms in Bristol how to secure free media publicity at a workshop organised by BRAVE Enterprise.

Paul, pictured, the founder of Clutton-based PR and digital content agency Sandusky Media Consultants and former business editor of the Bath Chronicle, is running his Promote your business with PR workshop on June 8th at BRAVE’s offices in Upper York Street.

BRAVE, which has helped thousands of entrepreneurs start and run profitable businesses since it was launched in the 1980s, is an independent and not-for-profit business support organisation.

It provides a wide range of practical business advice and low-cost training to both people thinking about becoming self-employed and trading businesses looking to grow.

Paul, who is also an associate lecturer in PR at the University of the West of England (UWE), will teach business owners how to write newsworthy press releases and grab the attention of prospective clients with engaging blogs.

The workshop will also show entrepreneurs how to pitch business stories confidently to journalists and influential bloggers.

“If you’re just starting out in business, you need to promote your products and services but may not have the financial resources to do this effectively,” said Paul, who has more than 20 years’ experience working in newspapers and public relations.

“Generating positive publicity about your business can be a great way to promote your business and it doesn’t cost a penny if you do it yourself. This practical introduction to PR will teach you the essential skills needed to raise your business profile in both traditional and digital media.”

The half-day workshop, which runs from 10am to 1pm, costs £42 per person. To book a place, visit www.bravetraining.org.uk or phone BRAVE on 0117 314 4616.
