Event: Lord Mayor of Bristol Children Appeal Carol Concert

November 30, 2018

Last-minute tickets for next week’s Lord Mayor of Bristol Children Appeal Carol Concert are still available.

The event, at the new look St George’s, takes place on Thursday, December 6 and will be raising funds for the appeal, which supports 1,650 families in the city with food, clothes and toy vouchers totalling £40 at Christmas.

A talented dancer and singer, Lord Mayor Cllr Cleo Lake will be performing herself, with Bristol-based soul choir Sing With Soul led by Dionne Draper among the guest acts during the evening.

Other performers include the MAN Chorus, Gurt Lush Choir, and mezzo soprano Rebecca Chellappah.  The event is partnered by the Bristol Post and Bcfm, whose presenter Pat Hart will be co-hosting the event with his wife Sherrie Eugene. The couple are also donating profits from the sale of 100 of their popular Carib-Asian Cookery book to the appeal.

Cllr Lake said: “I have been very moved by the letters I have seen requesting our vouchers and some of the stories that I have heard from our Children and Young People’s Services team who are responsible for their allocation. Clearly the money we raise is very much needed in 2018 which is in so many ways is a regrettable reality.

“Although we give the vouchers out at Christmas, they are for everyone of any faith or no faith. We live in a very diverse city which is why I am so delighted with the line up at the year’s concert which I think really reflects that diversity. I’m very much looking forward to being a part of it and I’d urge anyone who hasn’t bought a ticket yet to do so. It’s a great night out for a great cause.”
