A four-company consortium led by Yate-based building group ERH has retained its a place on a regional construction framework agreement covering projects valued at £1m-plus.

The Builders Consortium South West (BCSW) was formed in 2009 to compete on the first phase of the Construction Framework South West. It is the only consortium to hold a place on the original framework among 10 other contractors.

By maintaining its place, ERH and its three partners, will be able to compete against major construction firms on major regional projects, some of which could be valued at above £30m. The three other members of the consortium are Pearce Construction of Barnstaple, R J Leighfield & Sons of Swindon and New Milton-based Herbert H. Drew & Son.
BCSW members have a long history of delivering high-quality finished structures and offer expertise across a wide range of disciplines, including new build, alteration, conversion, extension, renovation, building maintenance and civil engineering.

It works with a range of public sector bodies including local and police authorities, universities and colleges, and healthcare and emergency service providers.

BCSW communications director and Marketing Director for ERH Group, Denise O’Leary, said: “As a consortium of smaller firms we understand that to compete with far larger businesses, we have to deliver a quality of service that exceeds expectations. And it’s equally important to offer clients the ability to choose local contractors that are major employers in the communities in which they are based.

“We believe the combination of our four companies delivers an unrivalled level of regional experience and securing a place on the Construction Framework South West for the second time is a boost for the communities around these businesses and the local supply chain we all need to fulfil our contracts.”

“Getting on the list justifies all the hard work the four companies put in and puts us in a position to bid for the region’s contracts valued up to £10m. We expect the high-quality work all four member companies have delivered and built their reputations on, combined with the local experience each firm possesses will stand the consortium in good stead for future success.”

The re-appointment comes as ERH’s results for 2012 show a 50% increase in turnover to £42m, reflecting its decision in 2009 to focus on core sectors and align the business with key frameworks.

As well as gaining work from the Construction Framework South West, ERH has also secured major frameworks with Bristol Airport, the South East Wales Highways Framework, the Ancillary Framework for Roadside Communications, Road Tunnel Communications and Civil Engineering works for the Welsh Government and the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency Contractors Framework.
