Engine Shed extends business lounge access to Institute of Chartered Accountants members

The Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW) has joined the growing list of organisations whose members can use the business lounge at Bristol’s Engine Shed innovation hub for free.

The lounge is already a popular stopping off point and meeting place for members of a wide range of bodies including Bristol Media, the Institute of Directors, the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) and Business West.

Engine Shed’s location next to Temple Meads railway station and at the heart of Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone means its business lounge has been busy since it opened three years ago.

The innovative and collaboration-focussed environment – along with free wi-fi and café – has attracted a diverse range of tech, creative and low carbon businesses to base themselves there.

ICAEW director of members’ department Amanda Digne-Malcolm said: “We’re keen that ICAEW members have access to leading-edge business facilities on-the-go, so we’re delighted to have these arrangements at Engine Shed.

“This will not only provide first-class business lounge facilities but also put members at the heart of a thriving entrepreneurial business hub.”

ICAEW West of England regional president and director at accountancy group PWC, Duncan Stratford, added: “We’re very pleased to offer our colleagues touchdown facilities at Engine Shed in Bristol. Bristol’s economy is vibrant and growing – it’s a great place to start and build business.

“Engine Shed is already becoming a key meeting and networking place for Bristol business, and the coffee’s great too!”

Engine Shed director Nick Sturge said the partnership with ICAEW would further help bring professional services, business leaders, academics and entrepreneurs together – benefiting both ICAEW members using the space and the other users of the lounge.

The business lounge is open from 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Members can arrange to meet up to two non-members.

Other users include staff from University of Bristol, University of the West of England, University of Bath, Bath Spa University, WebStart Bristol companies, GWR business team, Temple Studios companies, and SETsquared Bristol and SETsquared Bath companies.
