Retail support services firm eXPD8 has become the first tenant to move into One Brunswick Square – one of the new generation of office buildings that are transforming inner city areas of Bristol and bringing new kinds of workspace to the city.

The firm has taken 6,000 sq ft on the ground floor of the building in St Paul’s. It has relocated from a city centre office in Orchard Street, where it has been based since its launch in 2003, as it needed a more flexible space to support better communication and improve efficiency.

Joint owner and founder Mark Thurgood said: “It’s a great move for us. Our brand and culture are extremely important to us so we needed somewhere that could accommodate our needs whilst also portraying the right image and working environment.

“This open plan space in central Bristol allows us to develop smarter working practices that ultimately drive a better service for our clients.”

EXPD8 was launched by Mr Thurgood and Pete Bailey, who were both formerly of Somerfield. Pete Bailey was also previously finance director at Lidl.

The firm provides specialist in-store support services to multiple retailers and leading FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) brands which are designed to improve a product’s availability, maximise display compliance, increase brand awareness and ensure sales expectations are exceeded.

Its services include product merchandising, compliance audits, POS (point-of-sale) placement and promotional set-ups. It also offers product ordering, stocktaking, returns management, mystery shopping and one-off tactical support.

It provides retail support services in over 8,000 retail outlets across the UK.

It contracted Bath-based workplace design and build specialist Interaction to complete the design and fit-out in its new office.

Interaction design director Gary Duguid said: “Brunswick Square is an excellent addition to the on-going movement in the development of Grade A space in Bristol for creative and vibrant companies such as eXPD8.

“The space provided the ideal backdrop to create and deliver the interior to suit our client’s aspirations and develop an energetic and progressive hub to allow their team to work effectively.”
